When you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of your direction, it can be difficult to put into words what’s wrong. You might feel caught in cycles of stress, loneliness, or self-doubt, or find yourself comparing your path to others and feeling like you’ve fallen behind. Therapy can offer a space to slow down, feel understood, and begin making sense of what you’re carrying.
I work with teens and adults navigating depression, grief and loss, trauma, ADHD, self-worth concerns, and cross-cultural or identity-related challenges. Many of the people I support feel disconnected from themselves or unsure of their path, and may struggle with feeling misunderstood, isolated, or stuck in patterns that are hard to shift.
My approach to therapy is warm, relational, and grounded in presence. I aim to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and able to show up as you are, without pressure or judgment. I see therapy as a process of walking alongside you rather than trying to “fix” you, offering care, curiosity, and steady support as you explore your experiences.
In our work together, I draw from Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This allows us to explore your story, understand patterns, and begin responding to challenges in ways that feel more aligned with who you are.
I bring a perspective shaped by my experience as a second-generation Chinese Canadian, with an understanding of the complexity of navigating multiple cultural identities. I recognize how expectations, values, and intergenerational dynamics can influence how you see yourself and relate to others, and I approach this work with care and cultural awareness.
Before entering the field of psychotherapy, I worked in luxury retail logistics. My transition into this work reflects a desire to be of service in a more meaningful way. I believe everyone’s story is worth being heard, and that therapy can be a space where you feel seen, supported, and able to move forward with greater clarity and self-understanding.
I offer in-person sessions in Markham and virtual therapy across Ontario in English, and am currently accepting new patients with daytime and evening availability.

Living with constant worry, perfectionism, or intense fears can be exhausting. You might find yourself overthinking, placing pressure on yourself to meet unrealistically high standards, avoiding situations, or struggling with intrusive thoughts that are causing you significant distress. I support adults, teens, and children experiencing generalized anxiety, social anxiety, perfectionism, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and other mental health concerns.
A person-centered approach is at the core of my work. I believe change through therapy begins with a strong therapeutic relationship where you feel heard, accepted, and supported. From this foundation, I use an integrative approach, drawing from different therapeutic modalities to meet your individual needs.
With empathy, warmth, and acceptance, I approach therapy in a way that honours your experiences and identity. As a South Asian individual, I am mindful of the specific challenges faced by racialized communities and strive to offer a safe and supportive space.
Through our work, you may find relief, gain clarity, and feel more equipped to handle life’s challenges. If you would like to begin the therapy process, I offer a complimentary 20-minute consultation to determine if I am the right therapist for you. I look forward to the possibility of hearing from you.

Many of the people I work with feel overwhelmed, mentally exhausted, or stuck in patterns that are hard to break. You might be trying to balance family expectations, school or career pressures, and your own needs, while feeling like you’re constantly falling short. Others come in feeling anxious, emotionally drained, or unsure why the same patterns continue to show up in their relationships. Therapy can offer a steady, supportive space to slow down, make sense of what’s happening, and begin responding in ways that feel more manageable and aligned.
I work with teens, adults, couples, and families navigating anxiety, emotional regulation challenges, trauma-related patterns, and relationship difficulties. I have a particular focus on supporting individuals and couples who feel stuck in recurring dynamics, communication challenges, or emotional disconnection, as well as those navigating the impact of stress, past experiences, and intergenerational patterns on their relationships.
My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and grounded. I aim to create a space where you feel comfortable showing up as you are, without pressure or judgment. I draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed approaches, mindfulness-based practices, client-centred therapy, and Gottman-informed couples work. This allows us to explore both the emotional and relational patterns that may be contributing to distress, while also developing practical ways to respond differently.
Rather than focusing only on symptoms, I take time to understand the broader context of your experiences — including relationship dynamics, family systems, cultural influences, and real-life stressors. Together, we explore patterns such as overthinking, emotional overwhelm, and relationship cycles, while gradually building awareness and tools that feel manageable in your day-to-day life.
I bring experience working with children, youth, adults, couples, and families across community, school, and mental health settings. Much of my work focuses on individuals and couples navigating relationship stress, conflict, intergenerational dynamics, and high-pressure environments that can lead to burnout or emotional exhaustion.
I take a culturally responsive and inclusive approach to therapy, recognizing how family expectations, identity, and lived experience shape how emotions are understood and expressed. I aim to create a space where you feel respected, supported, and able to explore your experiences at a pace that feels right for you.
I believe therapy offers a space where you don’t have to keep holding everything in or figure things out on your own. It can be a place to better understand what you’re feeling, make sense of relational patterns, and begin responding to challenges in ways that feel steadier and more aligned with who you are.
I offer in-person sessions in Markham and virtual therapy across Ontario in English and Tamil, and am currently accepting new patients with daytime, evening, and weekend availability.
You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending—one step, one choice, one understanding at a time. – C.S. Lewis

Many of the people I support are used to functioning at a high level while quietly carrying overwhelm, pressure, or emotional exhaustion beneath the surface. You may be navigating major life transitions, questioning long-held roles or identities, or feeling caught between cultures, expectations, and different versions of yourself. Others come to therapy feeling disconnected from themselves, stuck in recurring relational patterns, or uncertain about where they truly belong. Therapy can offer a grounded space to slow down, reflect more honestly, and reconnect with yourself in a way that feels meaningful, intentional, and sustainable.
I work with adults, seniors, couples, and families navigating identity and belonging, trauma and relational wounds, life transitions, intergenerational patterns, self-worth concerns, parenting challenges, and cultural or cross-cultural experiences. I also support high-functioning individuals, entrepreneurs, caregivers, and people in leadership roles who are carrying significant responsibility while struggling to find spaces where they can fully exhale and be themselves.
My approach to therapy is warm, relational, direct, and grounded. I aim to create a space where you feel deeply seen without judgment, while also gently exploring patterns that may no longer be serving you. Therapy with me balances reflection and emotional depth with honesty, clarity, and forward movement at a pace that feels supportive and manageable.
In our work together, I draw from Existential Therapy, Brainspotting Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Somatic Therapy, and culturally responsive, trauma-informed approaches. I also offer Spiritually Integrated psychotherapy from an Islamic perspective for clients who wish to include faith and spirituality as part of their healing process. Together, we explore the emotional, relational, cultural, and embodied experiences that shape how you move through the world.
I bring a strong understanding of identity development, intergenerational trauma, cultural expectations, and the complexity of belonging across different environments and life paths. As someone familiar with bicultural and globally mobile experiences, I understand the tension that can arise when navigating multiple worlds, values, and expectations at once. I also have a particular interest in supporting women who are reflecting on identity, relational roles, motherhood, perimenopause, and the pressure of holding everything together while trying to create different patterns for themselves and future generations.
Before entering the field of psychotherapy, I completed a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) and later pursued a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (Honours). My background allows me to work thoughtfully with individuals balancing leadership, caregiving, entrepreneurship, and high levels of responsibility, while still navigating their own emotional needs and sense of self.
I believe therapy offers a space to understand yourself more honestly, release what no longer serves you, and build a more grounded and intentional way of living and relating — both to yourself and to the world around you.
I offer virtual therapy sessions across Ontario in English, Urdu, and Hindi, and am currently accepting new clients with daytime, evening, and weekend availability.

Understanding that we as humans all struggle at times- whether it’s with painful emotions, difficult relationships, or simply feeling lost. You don’t have to face those moments alone. I believe that therapy can be a place where we gently explore those struggles with compassion and curiosity, rather than judgment and fear.
I value working with the whole person; mind, body, and spirit, and believe in the importance of helping people reconnect with themselves and their inner strengths. My approach is warm, and integrative, and I aim to tailor treatment plans to the needs of each of my clients. This approach is shaped by my experience working with individuals throughout the lifespan, and understanding that we are uniquely different. I work with teens, adults, and couples struggling to cope with the stresses of life, the intricate process of addressing trauma, building essential coping skills, and fostering a sense of empowerment. I aim to provide a safe and nurturing space, where clients can openly explore their emotions, experiences, and struggles. Through evidence-based techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotional Focused Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Bowenian Family therapy and more personalized strategies, such as the exploration of creative expressive outlets, I hope to help each person who has had traumatic events impact their lives to rewrite their narratives and reclaim their lives.
Whether you’re a teenager grappling with the complexities of adolescence or an adult carrying the weight of past experiences, I want to meet people where they are at. By integrating a range of therapeutic modalities, I assist clients in developing effective coping mechanisms, fostering resilience, and rediscovering a sense of control over their lives. With a focus on empowerment, I can help clients tap into their inner strengths and resources by working collaboratively with me. As a social worker for over 28 years in hospital outpatient mental health clinics, I have supported children, youth and their families with a range of mental health disorders and struggles. Through my practice, I have witnessed the impact of hidden trauma in many of these individuals who have experienced ineffective outcomes from traditional ‘talk therapy’. As a result, this has led me to explore further and gain a better understanding into the science and neurobiology of trauma and dissociation.
Through the use of body oriented therapeutic approaches such as EMDR therapy and the basic principles of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, I start from a mindset that appreciates the organicity of the body, the uniqueness of the person and incorporates play based approaches to work collaboratively with my clients. Upholding these principles, I aim to offer a warm and caring approach that fosters compassion and strives to bring out the strengths and resilient qualities of all individuals.
In this journey towards healing there will be bumps along the way, together let’s walk along this road with an openness for change and a hope to foresee a future with opportunities to flourish. I begin with a 20-min free consultation to create a connection, explore disturbances and stressors in your life or your child’s life and then offer an approach that would aim towards your goals.

I offer in-person and virtual psychotherapy sessions for children ages 8+, teens, and adults. My work focuses on supporting clients with emotional regulation, self-compassion, identity exploration, and resilience through different life experiences.
Many clients come to me saying, “I don’t feel like myself right now,” or “I don’t really know who I am.” We take time to explore that, talk about what matters to you, and look at small steps that can help you move closer to the person you want to be, even when emotions like anxiety, sadness, guilt, or anger are present.
My work is grounded in evidence-based practices, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which emphasizes increasing psychological flexibility and aligning life with one’s values. The unexamined life, according to Socrates, is not worth living. I want to tell you about who I am, my background, and how I got here. I don’t enjoy wasting time, therefore, I want to be forward and truthful with you right away. I am Egyptian by birth, Russian by education, Canadian by residence, Greek at heart, and Coptic in soul. As you can see, life has led me on a wide variety of travels, and I have met a wide variety of people from various backgrounds.
Here is a summary of my story; my name is Bavly Kost. I’ve always loved reading and writing since I was a child. My interest in history, philosophy, and theology was sparked when I pondered the significance of life, which led me in that direction. I double majored in history and religious studies during my undergrad, graduating with a degree in education. I enjoy coaching and teaching (I’m a clinical supervisor overseeing entry-level psychotherapists) (basketball has always been a passion for me, and I still play to this day).
I pursued two master’s degrees: one in counseling and one in theology. I’m a registered psychotherapist who works as a Spiritual Care Practitioner in the health care setting. In the hospital, I offer spiritual and religious therapy to patients, families, and staff. I also provide counseling in a private setting.
So what can I do to support you? Honestly, I’m not sure but what I will offer you is my honesty, respect, and determination to work with you no matter the situation. We will work together on figuring out life’s journey and see how we can walk together to figure out the meaning of life.
Continue challenging yourself, reading, learning, and shining. Do not stop asking questions and never allow anyone to make fun of you because of what you stand for. You are unique, and others can learn from you by letting your light shine.
